I didn't know I wanted to be a teacher until I taught my first ESOL class.  In college I volunteered to teach English to a group of migrant workers who were required to learn English in order to find work in the U.S.  Because their English was at a one, I had to start with phonic sounds and small phrases.  I fell in love with the classes and looked for more opportunities to teach English in my community.  I later became a private tutor at my college library.  There I taught students from Argentina, South Korea, China and Cuba.  What an amazing experience!

As I pursued my other passions, I continued to teach English.  In 2010, I began working with immigrants and refugees who had recently  moved to the United States.  Some people had studied English for, while others arrived with little to no English experience.  My job was to help them understand the American financial system.  This allowed me to create financial education classes for English language learners.  In these classes my students were Ukrainian, Venezuelan, Cuban, Italian, Saudi Arabian, Chinese, Russian, French, Brazilian and so many more!

For the past few years I have been dedicated to teaching English online.  During the pandemic I had wonderful opportunities to virtually meet students from all over the world and teach them and their children English.
